Juraci Moreira wins gold at the African Cup in Kenya!

Juraci Moreira came in first place at the ITU Baraka Chai African Cup Triathlon in Kenya last weekend! This gold medal victory marks Juraci’s comeback to the Triathlon World Circuit and is a big step in his quest to compete in his 4th Olympic games! Juraci gained 200 points in the Olympic ranking from the race and moved 58 places closer to the qualifying position. In last weekend’s race Juraci was third out of the water and ended up in the first group of 8 athletes in the bike portion. He started the run in third place and assumed the lead at the 1.5km mark. He left everyone else behind and finished 45 seconds ahead of the second place athlete from England, Harry Wilshire. The Moroccan athlete, Medhi Essadiq finished in third place. “I knew it was a tough course,” said Juraci. “My plan was just to keep a decent pace and then put in some strong surges in the last kilometers. Harry helped me out because he put some surges in.” Excited with his result, Juraci will be racing again this weekend at the Guatape ITU Pan American Cup in Columbia. Keep up the good work!
